Dog rescued in west end fire (6 photos)

Firefighters respond to report of heavy smoke Sunday afternoon

Firefighters have successfully rescued a dog following a house fire in the Sault's west end Sunday afternoon. 

Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services responded to a report of heavy smoke coming from windows at 132 McFadden Avenue just after 12 p.m.

Firefighters forced their way into the home, eventually bringing out a small dog in need of oxygen.

Canadian Red Cross has been asked to attend the scene. 

Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services is investigating.
