Devastated Goderich residents are trying to cope today with the aftermath of the most powerful storm to strike Ontario in 15 years.
A deadly tornado roared into the Lake Huron beachfront town of 8,000 Sunday afternoon, claiming the life of a 61-year-old man.
Reports indicate at least 37 people were injured.
Winds reaching 300 kilometres per hour left a path of destruction.
Trees were shredded, roofs flew of buildings and vehicles were tossed about.
Goderich's mayor has declared a state of emergency and Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty has authorized provincial aid.
The community has long been known as "the prettiest town in Canada."
