BREAKING: Flooding in Prince Township after heavy rain

Storm rolled through area over dinner hour

Roads in Prince Township have been flooded after heavy rain earlier this evening.

Area resident Natalie Stewart said the area impacted is along Second Line starting at Airport Road all the way past the township office.

The big storm went through between 5 and 6 p.m.

Stewart said vehicles were stranded on the side of the road, with residents outside taking stock of the situation.

"I am still shocked my Ford Focus made it through," wrote Stewart, who forwarded photos of the flooding. "I got home at 8 p.m. through that mess... I am wondering of the road will be closed at 5 a.m. to go to work."

Prince Township Fire Service said on social media that Second Line was closed between Airport Road and Gagnon due to "flooding and washout".

Environment Canada had issued a rainfall warning for the Sault earlier in which it said up to 50 mm of rain was possible.

SooToday will have more information on this story as it becomes available.
