With Black History Month coming up quickly, the African Caribbean Canadian Association of Northern Ontario (ACCANO) is preparing for its annual dinner. Black History Month, which begins Feb. 1, is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Black Canadians, their stories, histories, and diverse cultures, ACCANO says in a news release.
The organization is holding its yearly dinner Feb. 25 at the Bush Plane Museum at 50 Pim St. It will feature a menu "reflective of our rich and diverse cultures, live music, dance performances, door prizes, a cash bar and much more."
The theme for this year’s celebration is Transformative Journeys which will be the focus of the keynote speech and other activities. All proceeds from the dinner will go towards supporting ACCANO scholarship funds at Algoma University and Sault College.
