Algoma University is exploring opportunities to improve its food service through current food service provider Morningstar Hospitality Inc.

One of the options being explored is the addition of a Coffee and Baked goods outlet to the current café.

At this time a final decision has not been made on whether or not to move forward with this initiative.

“We are excited about the possibilities of enhancing our food service options at the University and the results of a survey conducted last summer by the food service committee showed strong support for a Tim Horton’s, however, the article today came as a surprise to all of us at the University who will ultimately be involved in the decision,” says Sean Dwyer, Vice-President Finance and Administration at Algoma University.

“As a result of a miscommunication within the management and staff at Morningstar Hospitality Services Inc., signage at the Morningstar Market and Eatery at Algoma University mistakenly announced that a Tim Hortons franchise will opening at the University. That announcement has since been removed. While there has been discussions between Morningstar and Algoma University regarding options for a Coffee and Baked Goods franchise on campus, no plans have been approved or finalized,” said Chris Trainer, President Morningstar Hospitality Services Inc.

Algoma University looks forward to sharing any food service updates with the community in the future.
