ADSB receives $8.9M in government funding

H.M. Robbins Public School is set to receive upgrades and a new addition thanks to an Approval to Proceed (ATP), with additional funding, from the Ontario Ministry of Education in the amount of $8.9 million.

The funding will be used for a 26 pupil place addition and retrofit for HM Robbins Public School as well as a four room child care (64 child care spaces) addition to the school, located at 83 East Balfour Street in Sault Ste. Marie. The amount includes a request for additional funding to support unique site costs and higher market conditions.

“Our government is investing in Ontario communities by building modern, well-equipped schools and child care facilities,” said Jill Dunlop, Minister of Education in a news release issued today. “The updates and the addition to the HM Robbins Public School reflect our commitment to supporting the growth and development of our students. I am thrilled to see these new spaces come to life and look forward to the positive impact they will have on the children and families in Sault Ste. Marie.”

The Algoma District School Board (ADSB) has received an Approval to Proceed (ATP), with additional funding, from the Ontario Ministry of Education in the amount of $8.9 million for updates and an addition at HM Robbins Public School.

The funding is for a twenty-six (26) pupil place addition and retrofit for HM Robbins Public school as well as a four room child care (64 child care spaces) addition to the school, located at 83 East Balfour Street in Sault Ste. Marie. The amount includes a request for additional funding to support unique site costs and higher market conditions.

ADSB’s Director of Education Lucia Reece confirmed that the Ministry of Education has allocated a total of $2.6 million in Capital Priorities funding and $5.5 million in Child Care Capital funding. The board will also be using $721,665 from this year’s School Renewal Allocation.
