SooToday received the following letter to the editor from reader Peter Vaudry in response to an earlier letter NPI survey about racism in Sault has many gaps.
Good for Jeff Arbus and Jane Omollo to take the time to write and draw attention to the limitations of the survey.
Doesn't mean the NPI is not sincere in what it set out to do — be a non-partisan think tank. But, I worry here about the law of unintended consequences.
The book Morality by Rabbi Jonathan Sacks relates an old Jewish joke that boils down to, "In other words, small actions can have large consequences."
It's one survey, but if it leaves the wrong impression, the consequences will be long lasting and detrimental.
