Sault Ste. Marie Police are accusing someone of trying to cash a fraudulent cheque that was stolen from a vehicle six years ago.
Police say it happened in the 500 block of Queen Street on March 8.
“An investigation revealed the accused had attempted to fraudulently cash a $2,000 cheque stolen from a victim’s vehicle in 2018,” police allege in a news release.
A suspect was arrested Saturday.
Delores Waboose, 33, has been charged with fraud and possession of property obtained by crime.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
