On September 25, 2013 at approximately 1:04 p.m. Rosemary Pheasant, 29 years old of 364 Albert St. E., and Kaitland Laforge-Rathbone, 19 years old of 421 Connaught Ave., were arrested and charged with theft under $5,000.

On September 25, 2013 at approximately 1:04 p.m. Rosemary Pheasant, 29 years old of 364 Albert St. E., and Kaitland Laforge-Rathbone, 19 years old of 421 Connaught Ave., were arrested and charged with theft under $5,000. 

The accused parties attended at a business located at 293 Bay St. and [allegedly] exited the store without paying for their items.

Pheasant was additionally charged with breach of  a conditional sentence order (x2), as she was on conditions to remain away from 293 Bay St. and to remain in her residence daily.

Laforge-Rathbone was additionally charged with breach of probation (x2) in regard to a probation order with conditions to remain away from 293 Bay St. and keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Pheasant will be appearing in Bail Court on September 26, 2013 and Laforge-Rathbone will be appearing in court on October 28, 2013.

Update to Homicide Investigation from August 8th-First Degree Murder Charge Laid

On the 8th of August 2013 officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service attended in the 300 block of Lake Street for a call for police assistance.

Upon arrival officers located the body of 42-year old Corellie Bonhomme.

On the 10th of August officers from Investigation Services arrested and charged 18-year old Johnathon Townsend of 379 Lake Street Apartment G-9 with one count of Second Degree Murder. The accused remains in custody.

The investigation has been ongoing since the arrest. As a result of information received two Investigators from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service attended in Kokomo, Indiana on September 16th and met with Investigators from the Kokomo Police Department.

The ongoing investigation has resulted in the Kokomo Police Department charging a 12-year old female with aiding, inducing or causing murder in relation to the homicide in Sault Ste. Marie. No further details in relation to this aspect of the investigation are being released at this time.

Based on the new information gathered in the ongoing investigation officers from Investigation Services attended at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre on the 25th of September 2013 and charged the accused with one count of First Degree Murder.  The accused will appear in bail court on the 26th of September 2013 in answer to the new charge.

Break and Enter, Recovered Stolen Vehicle and Theft from Vehicle

On the 24th of September RM Frolich Roofing on Northland Road reported a break and enter to their rear compound.  Items taken include an RBC Hoist motor, a Duwalt drill, a Makita air compressor as well as a ladder.

On the 24th of September just after 3:30 am City Police received a report of a stolen 2000 Oldsmobile Alero with licence plate BHVA716.  The abandoned vehicle was located yesterday morning at 7:30 am.

Yesterday morning a homeowner on Elmwood Avenue reported the theft of a fish finder, a Garmin navigator and assorted wrenches from their vehicle.
