On October 16, 2013 at 4:00 am Police Officers were called to a single motor vehicle collision on Black Rd. at Second Line East. Officers observed a Ford truck in the west ditch of Black Rd. Police spoke to the driver and found him to be under the influence of alcohol. Officers arrested and charged the driver, Owen Dempster, age 20 of 173 Chambers Ave. Sault Ste. Marie with Impaired Driving and Driving over .08. He will appear in court on November 18th. No injuries were reported in the collision and damage was minor to the vehicle.
On October 16, 2013 a 53 year old male turned himself in at the Police Services Building as he was wanted on two domestic related warrants. The male was on probation from a previous domestic assault conviction when he failed to follow his probation order. He will appear in bail court on October 16th.
On October 16, 2013 at 10:00 Police Officers arrested a 17 year old young person who was wanted for Failing to Attend/Appear in Court warrants from a previous theft charge. The youth will appear in court on November 19th.
On October 16, 2013 at 12:40 pm Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit executed a drug search warrant on a residence at 769 Pine St. Officers found 190 grams of Marihuana, along with 8 pills of codeine. Police officers arrested and charged Bradley Daynard, age 22 and Megan Poirier, age 22, both of 769 Pine St. Apt 402 with Trafficking in Marihuana and two counts of a Controlled Drug. Street value of the seizure is estimated to be $3,900.00. Daynard and Poirier will appear in court on November 18th.
On October 15, 2013 officers attended at a west end pawn shop regarding possible stolen video equipment. Investigation revealed the equipment was pawned on October 5, 2013. The owner of the property attended the pawn shop with identifying serial numbers. Police obtained the name of the individual that had pawned the goods. The accused turned himself in at the station on October 15, 2013. Further investigation was done and there was an outstanding charge of theft of money dating back to October 3, 2013. The accused was charged with possession of stolen property and theft under $5000. The accused Meeshan Jacobs age 22 of no fixed abode will appear in court on November 18, 2013 at 9:00 am.
On October 15, 2013 at approximately 8:45 pm officer’s from the Sault Ste. Marie OPP detachment brought an individual to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service regarding outstanding warrants. The accused age 35 was arrested for several domestic related charges and breach of court ordered conditions that the accused failed to follow. The accused will appear in bail court on October 16, 2013 at 10:00am.
