Female Arrested for Shoplifting at Wal-Mart: 20 year-old Ashley Swanson of 190 Church Street (front) was arrested on the 25th of November at 4:40 pm at the Wal-Mart and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00.
Female Arrested for Shoplifting at Wal-Mart:

20 year-old Ashley Swanson of 190 Church Street (front) was arrested on the 25th of November at 4:40 pm at the Wal-Mart and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 25th of November around 4:20 pm the accused attended at the store and stole make up. She is to appear in court on the 5th of January, 2009.

Male Youth Arrested for Theft:

A 17 year-old male youth was arrested on the 25th of November at 8:40 pm at his residence and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00 and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 15th of November around 1 pm the accused attended at an apartment of a person known to him and stole a MP3 player, a DVD player and six DVD movies, a set of keys and some cosmetics. He is to appear in court on the 6th of January, 2009.

Female Youth Arrested at Local High School for Drug Possession:

A 16 year-old female youth was arrested on the 25th of November at 11:15 am at a local high school and charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that on the 25th of November around 11 am the youth, while at school, was found in possession of a small amount of marihuana by a staff member. She is to appear in court on the 6th of January, 2009.

Motor Vehicle Collision with Injuries:

City police responded to a motor vehicle collision with injuries yesterday morning that occurred at 11:26 am at the intersection of Bruce Street and Gladstone Avenue. It is alleged that the driver of a grey Oldsmobile that was proceeding eastbound on Bruce Street attempted to make a left turn onto Gladstone Avenue and turned in front of a Dodge Caravan that had been travelling westbound on Bruce Street. The van struck the passenger side of the Olds and as a result the passenger in the Oldsmobile, an 84 year-old female was sent to hospital with serious injuries. At this time, it does not appear that the injuries are life-threatening. The 49 year-old female driver of the van received minor injuries.
The 85 year-old male driver of the Oldsmobile, Lino Corvetti, of 349 Gillies street was charged with one count of left turn - fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid collision under the Highway Traffic Act.

Thefts:


Vehicles were entered in the areas of McGregor Avenue, North Street and a vehicle parked in the downtown area of Queen Street East. Items reported stolen included two folding knives, a gold ring with a tiger eye on it, cash, coins, insurance papers, a key and a personal cheque.

A garage on Churchill Avenue was entered sometime overnight on the 24th-25th of November. Nothing was reported stolen.

Mischief Reports:

• A window of a vehicle parked at a residence on Dacey Road was smashed.
• Glass windows were smashed at three businesses on Queen Street East, including Glassworks and the Laser Advantage.
