The following three persons are to appear in bail court this morning: 1) 31 year-old Jeanette Niganobe was arrested at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre at 12:15 pm and charged with one count of assault.
The following three persons are to appear in bail court this morning:

1) 31 year-old Jeanette Niganobe was arrested at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre at 12:15 pm and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 29th of July at approximately 8:45 am, while in custody at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre, the accused approached a fellow female inmate that was sitting at a table, grabbed the back of her head and slammed it into the table. The accused then threw the victim on the floor and kicked her. The victim received minor injuries.

2) 21 year-old Michael Hodgson of 27 Nebenaigoching Street in the Rankin Reserve was arrested at 6:30 pm on Albert Street East and charged with one count of mischief, one count of resist peace officer and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 29th of July at 6:30 pm the accused swung a folding chair at a window of the John Howard Society on King Street, smashing the window. The accused fled on foot but was located a short time later by police and arrested. When police were dealing with the accused, he was uncooperative and continuously struggled and attempted to pull away from them. The accused was on probation at the time of the offence to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

3) 23 year-old Jeffrey Godson-Roy of #2-242 Beverley Street was arrested at 1:43 am this morning and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of mischief, one count of trespassing at night and two count of breach of probation. It is alleged that around 1:30 am city police received a call regarding a suspicious male going through vehicles and trying doors in the John Street and Wellington Street West areas. When officers arrived in then area, they located the accused in the laneway on the west side of Gloucester Street carrying a baseball bat and holding a car stereo. Investigation revealed the stereo had just been stolen out of a vehicle in the area. The accused was on probation at the time of the incident with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Suspicious Male Located by Police and Arrested on Outstanding Theft Charges:

35 year-old Gray Latvanen of #109-135 Cambridge Place was arrested at 1:58 am this morning and charged with one count of trespassing at night. It is alleged that just before 2 am this morning city police located the accused wondering around backyards in the 100 block of Cathcart Street. Police ran a check on the accused and further discovered that he was wanted for a theft from the 22nd of June at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Great Northern Road. He was further charged with one count of theft. He is to appear in court on the 8th of September.

Male Charged for Threatening and Mischief:

27 year-old Mark Hernden of 52 Pozzebon Crescent was arrested on the 29th of July at 6:41 pm at his residence and charged with one count of threaten death or bodily harm and one count of mischief. It is alleged that on the 29th of July that accused got into a verbal argument with a male known to him while at a local store and threatened to kill him and his family. It is further alleged that the accused damaged the same victim’s vehicle that was in the parking lot by breaking off an exterior mirror. He is to appear in court on the 8th of September.

Female Charged with Drug Trafficking:

30 year-old Jody Lynn Shawana of #1-215 John Street was arrested on the 29th of July at 3:30 pm at a local bar and charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that the Sault Ste Marie Police Service’s Street Team Unit located the accused at the bar in possession of six individually wrapped one gram packages of marijuana. She is to appear in court on the 8th of September.

Property Crimes:

Thefts:

Vehicles were entered and gone through in the areas of Farewll Terrace, Texas Avenue, Sharon Crescent, Wallace Terrace, Tadcaster Avenue, Lawson Avenue, Wellington Street East.
Some of the items reported stolen – two wallets, a digital camera, money, vehicle ownerships and insurance cards.

There was a break and enter reported to residence in the 200 block of St. George’s Avenue West that occurred between 8:10 am and 9:40 am on the 29th of July. Jewellery was reported stolen.

An 18 speed men’s yellow and black Jeep Commando Mountain Bike was stolen on Wellington Street East yesterday afternoon and an older style ladies blue 3 speed bike with a basket on the handle bars was stolen yesterday afternoon at No Frills on Korah Road.

An Electric Weed Wacker and a 200 piece socket set were stolen from a portable zip up shed on Placid Avenue.
