Snow Day City police would like to advise the public that weather and road conditions are extremely poor. Due to blowing snow, cold temperatures and high winds, road conditions and visibility is very poor.

City police would like to advise the public that weather and road conditions are extremely poor. Due to blowing snow, cold temperatures and high winds, road conditions and visibility is very poor. There is a high accumulation of snow on several city streets making travelling on them very difficult.

With the blizzard and white-out conditions, you should stay off the road unless your trip is absolutely necessary. Both highway 17 East and Highway 17 North have been closed. City Transit is not operating. School buses are not operating and schools have been closed.

Several Charges Laid

46 year-old Richard Breton of no fixed address was arrested on the 29th of January at 10:18 am at the city police station on outstanding warrants. He was charged with one count of fail to appear for prints, one count of fail to appear court and two counts of breach of probation. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Youth Faces Several Charges

A 14 year-old female youth was arrested on the 29th of January at 11:50 pm on Trunk Road and charged with twelve counts of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. It is alleged that from the 20th of January to the 29th of January the accused has breached her probation conditions on several occasions by breaching her curfew, not obeying the rules of the house and not keeping the peace and being of good behaviour. She is to appear in bail court this morning.

Fail to Appear

19 year-old Real Desjardins of 123 Rossmore Road was arrested on the 29th of January 2008 at 10:45 pm at the city police station on an outstanding warrant and charged with one count of fail to appear for court on the 16th of January. He is to appear in court on the 3rd of March.

Theft

31 year-old Tricia Roffey of #301-147 South Market Street was arrested on the 29th of January at 9:45 am at Food Basics on Trunk Road and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 29th of January at approximately 9:45 am the accused attended at Food Basics on Trunk Road, loaded up a grocery cart with $246.00 worth of groceries and left the store without paying. She was apprehended by a store employee and held for police. She is to appear in court on the 3rd of March.
