City Police did respond to over 12 motor vehicle collisions. Road conditions and weather conditions have not been great this last week. Police would once again like to remind all drivers to take a few precautions before driving this winter.

Road conditions and weather conditions have not been great this last week. Police would once again like to remind all drivers to take a few precautions before driving this winter.

- Make sure your vehicle is winterized.
- Always wear your seatbelt properly.
- When traveling on icy or snow filled roads, give yourself plenty of room and time to stop.
- Keep a safe distance between you and the vehicle ahead of you.
- Drive with your headlights on, even during the day.
- Be sure to clear snow and ice off your windows, lights, mirrors, and license plate.
- Do not use your cell phone while driving.
- Avoid driving during poor weather conditions.

Female Charged with Assaulting Ex-Boyfriend

A 23 year old female will be appearing in bail court this morning because of an incident that occurred at the Canadian Motor Hotel at 410 Pim Street. It is alleged that the accused assaulted her ex-boyfriend by punching him in the right cheek area and verbally accosting him. At the time of the incident the female was on undertaking to not communicate with, not molest, harass or physically interfere with the male victim. Police were called just before 2am and she was charged with 4 counts of breaching her release document and 1 count of assault. The male in this incident did not require any medical attention.

Theft under $5,000

26 year old Jonathan Douglas Varley of 913 Government Road, Echo Bay has been charged with 1 count of theft under $5000. It is believed that just before 2pm the accused attended at the Canadian Tire Store at 200 McNabb Street and took a Halogen Bulb. The accused took the bulb out of its wrapper then concealed it in his pocket. The accused then attempted to leave the store without making any attempt to pay for the item. He was stopped by store security and police were called. The accused will be appearing in court on the 21st of January. The value of the item was just under $9.
