Female Charged with Obstruct Police Yesterday morning at approx.11:50 am city police were called to a downtown address to assist the ambulance service with a medical emergency.

Yesterday morning at approx.11:50 am city police were called to a downtown address to assist the ambulance service with a medical emergency. It is alleged that when the officers arrived they were repeatedly obstructed by a female person at the address. After numerous warnings to leave the area the accused was finally arrested and charged with one count of obstruct police. Charged is Amanda Bjornaaa, age 25 of 348 Cathcart St.
Apt. # 1. She will be appearing in court on Jan 28th.

City police arrested four persons yesterday for failing to appear in court.

1. At approx. 3:45 pm city police arrested Derek Roberts for several outstanding warrants dating back to April 2007. Derek Roberts, age 28, of 23 Dufferin Ave. is charged with one count of failing to appear for court, two counts of breach of probation, two counts of threatening and two counts of harassment. Mr. Roberts failed to appear for court on Nov. 21st 2007. He will be appearing in court on Jan. 28th 2008.

2. At approx.4:30 pm city police arrested Marty Mattila, age 34, of 1003 Allen’s Side Rd. and charged him with one count of failing to appear for court, one count of failing to appear for identification and one count of theft under. The charges date back to Jan.24th 2005.He will be appearing in court on Jan. 21st 2008.

3. At approx. 5:05 pm city police arrested Stacey Roach, age 30, of 85 White Birch Dr, Garden River. Mr. Roach failed to appear for court on Jan 30th 2003. Mr. Roach is charged with one count of failing to appear for court. He will be in court on Jan. 21st 2008.

4. At approx. 12:20 am this morning city police arrested Randal Giguere, age 30, of 320 Albert St. E and charged him with one count of failing to appear for court. Mr. Giguere failed to appear for court on Dec. 5th 2007. He will be appearing in court on Jan. 21st 2008.

City police investigated one report of a break and enter yesterday evening.

A home in the 1300 block of Wellington St. E. was entered. It is not known at this time what was taken.

City police received two reports of mischief and one report of a theft.

The mischief and theft complaints all involved vehicles. The sliding door on a van parked in the 100 block of Tancred St. was damaged. A vehicle parked in the 300 block of Bay St. was damaged. A vehicle parked in the 100 block of Willow Ave had a window broken and items stolen from the car.

Four Car Collision

Yesterday afternoon at approx. 12:30 pm the Sault Ste Marie Police Service attended at the intersection of Great Northern Rd. and Northern Ave regarding a four vehicle collision. In the incident a vehicle traveling south on Great Northern Rd and turning left onto Northern Ave was struck by a northbound vehicle. As a result of the collision the truck cap on the southbound vehicle dislodged and struck two vehicles that were stopped westbound on Northern Ave. No injuries were reported. Four vehicles were damaged- two severely. The collision is still under investigation.
