On December 7 and 8 following a domestic argument, a 29-year-old male [allegedly] assaulted his girlfriend, and broke her cell phone and iPod. The victim received minor injuries in the incident.
On December 7 and 8 following a domestic argument, a 29-year-old male [allegedly] assaulted his girlfriend, and broke her cell phone and iPod. The victim received minor injuries in the incident. Following another argument on December 11, 2013, the accused [allegedly] broke some speakers and a chair. On December 11, 2013 he was arrested and charged with assault and two counts mischief under $5, 000. He will appear in bail court on December 12 at 10 a.m.

On December 11, 2013 at 12:30 Theresa Bissaillion, age 24 of Oak Ridge Dr. Thessalon, was arrested and charged with failing to attend for fingerprinting. She will appear in court on January 20, 2014 at 9 a.m.

Warrant for child pornography leads to drug seizure

On December 11, 2013 the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Technological Crime Unit with the assistance of Patrol Services executed a search warrant for child pornography at a Huron Street apartment. Once inside the apartment, officers located a large quantity of illegal narcotics. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit was called to assist. Police located and seized 1,953 grams of marijuana, 14 grams of cocaine, 25 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 45 x 40mg oxycodone pills, 48 x 20mg oxycodone pills, and cannabis resin. The total value of the drugs seized is $35,995. Police also located and seized two computer systems, and an unregistered restricted .357 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver.

As a result, 34-year-old male, Steven Lindsay of Huron Street, has been charged with:
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x5)
  • Production of cannabis resin
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of a weapon knowing its possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of child pornography
  • Making child pornography available
Steven Lindsay was held in police custody and will be attending Bail Court on Thursday, December 12, 2013. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is a member of the Provincial Strategy to Protect Children From Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of the Internet. This investigation is possible because of a funding grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.

On December 10, 2013 at approximately 9:45 p.m., the accused Shelagh Dowding, age 53, was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. It is alleged that the accused was west bound on Wallace Terrace and approached a red light at Korah Road. The accused allegedly went through the red light travelling at a high rate of speed. The accused finally stopped at Wallace Terrace and Letcher Street. The accused was found to be impaired by alcohol. 
 
The accused will appear in court on January 13, 2014 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charge of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over the legal limit.
