Alleged assault on child
On August 21st shortly after 7:00 am a 33 year old male turned himself into Police at the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services Building. Detectives wanted the male from an incident on June 12th where it was alleged he assaulted his 5 year old son. The male was charged with Assault and will appear in court today.
Outstanding warrant
On August 21, 2013 at 12:08 pm Antony Best, age 25 of 602 Bay St. Unit 10 attended at the Police Station regarding an outstanding arrest warrant. Officers arrested and charged Best on a warrant for failing to attend court. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept 30th .
Motor Vehicle Collision on Great Northern Road August 20th
On the 20th of August 2013 just after 4 pm City Police and Fire Services attended in the 700 block of Great Northern Road in regards to a single motor vehicle collision.
A Ford Escape, being operated by an 81-year old female driver, was traveling westbound on Lukenda Drive. It is alleged that the driver failed to stop for the red light at the intersection of Lukenda Drive and Great Northern Road. After proceeding through the intersection the vehicle struck the side of a business and rolled onto the driver’s side. The vehicle was demolished in the collision
The female driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Sault Area Hospital. It is believed that accident was a result of a medical issue. No charges have been laid in this investigation.
Arrests/Charged Persons:
On August 21, 2013 at approximately 2:26am police attended at a domestic disturbance in the 600 block of MacDonald Avenue. The accused age 19 was at the victim’s apartment when a verbal argument ensued. The victim asked the accused to leave her apartment. The accused pushed the victim with both hands with enough force that she was knocked to the floor. The victim notified police as the accused fled on foot. Sometime later the accused returned to the apartment at which time he was arrested by police for assault and breach of an undertaking with a condition of not to consume alcohol. The accused will appear in bail court August 21, 2013 at 10:00am.
