VIDEO: Police seek suspect after downtown windows smashed

Video surveillance from the area shows an individual carrying what appears to be an axe

Sault Police hope to identify a suspect after a number of downtown windows were smashed on the evening of May 15.

A news release issued today by Crime Stoppers states that the damage occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. and the individual, who was captured on video surveillance, appeared to be carrying an axe.

Crime Stoppers and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are requesting your assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an incident of mischief.

On May 15, 2021 at approximately 8:30 p.m., several windows were damaged in the 400 to 500 block of Queen Street. The alleged suspect was caught on video surveillance walking with what appears to be an axe.

The unknown male was wearing dark clothing, work pants, a black hat, and wearing a backpack.
