Sault Police have recovered two firearms — one long gun and one handgun — from the Second Line house where a man killed himself Monday night after murdering three children and an adult.
Another adult was also shot but survived.
“Forensic analysis, ballistics analysis, and the post-mortem report will be required to determine how the firearms were used,” said a brief news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.
The news release also confirmed that the 44-year-old killer was the subject of previous investigations related to intimate partner violence. No other details on those investigations were provided.
Police have previously disclosed that on Monday night, the shooter killed a 41-year-old person at a Tancred Street home before driving to Second Line East, where he shot and killed three children — aged 6, 7 and 12 — and a 45-year-old. The adult victim was transported to hospital.
Chief Hugh Stevenson will be holding a press conference today at 3 p.m.
