Two people have been charged after Sault Ste. Marie Police Service officers discovered them asleep in a running vehicle on Peoples Road on Sunday morning.
During a search of the accused and the vehicle, officers seized a handgun-syle bb gun as well as suspected methamphetamine, a news release says.

On Oct. 16, 2022, officers with Patrol Services charged 29-year-old Dakota Cole (accused one) with weapon offences, and 18-year-old Samara Saunders (accused two) with possession of a controlled substance.
Around 9:20 a.m., officers responded to a report of two people asleep in a vehicle in the 1000 block of Peoples Road. Upon arrival officers observed accused two asleep in the driver seat of the running vehicle and accused one asleep in the front passenger seat. Officers also observed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
Officers woke the two accused and they were arrested. A subsequent search of accused one found a firearm tucked in their waistband. Further examination determined the firearm was a handgun-style bb gun. A subsequent search of the vehicle located a quantity of a substance believed to be methamphetamine.
Accused one is charged with:
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Carry concealed weapon
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm
• Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
• Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
They were released on an undertaking and are scheduled to appear in court on January 9, 2023.
Accused two is charged with:
• Possession of a controlled substance
