On September 3, 2013 at 12:00pm detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division arrested and charged a 29 year old male for sexual assault and sexual interference.  It is alleged that in July of this year the male touched a young female known to him for a sexual purpose.  The name of the male is not being released to protect the identity of the victim. He will be appearing in bail court September 4, 2013.

On September 3, 2013 at approximately 3:00pm officers with patrol had occasion to speak with a group of persons acting suspiciously on the board walk across from the Station Mall.  One of the males identified as 20 year old Jerry Clarke of 923 Queen Street East was found to have outstanding warrants for his arrest.  It is alleged that on the 19th of August of this year Clarke breached the conditions of his release document from a previous incident by not attending court when required to do so.  He will appear in bail court September 4, 2013.

On September 3, 2013 at 3:10pm 40 year old Robert Muhonen of Little Current, ON attended for a scheduled court appearance at the city court house located at 426 Queen Street East. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service held a warrant for his arrest on allegations that he had breached a condition of his sec 810 peace bond by failing to report to the Sault Ste. Marie Police service when required to do so.  Muhonen was arrested and will be appearing in bail court September 4, 2013.

On the 3 September 2013 police were called to Sears where a male had punched out a glass door. The glass was shattered causing hundreds of dollars in damage. Police located the male a short distance away. Nicholas Crack (age 19) was charged with mischief under $5,000.00. He was also taken to the hospital to repair a large cut in his hand. He will be appearing in court on the 7 October 2013.

Break and Enter September 2nd

On the 2nd of September between 4 pm and 11 pm a home on Grandriver Cresent was broken into.  Items taken include a HP laptop, a Toshiba laptop, a 32 inch Sony flat screen television, a guitar, a Nintendo Wii, diamond earrings, a men’s Northface jacket, a women’s Northface jacket, a Craftsman WeedWacker still in the box, signed hockey cards as well as other items. Anyone with any information regarding this break and enter or the whereabouts of the stolen property is asked to contact City Police at 705-949-6300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

On the 2 September the City Police responded to the report of a car off the road on Queen St East near Dacey Rd. On arrival they discovered a silver Dodge SUV in the ditch. The driver of that SUV was found to have alcohol on his breath and was given a roadside test. He failed and was brought to the City Police station where intoxilizer test readings were more than double the legal limit. While police were looking for the vehicle permit and insurance particulars, they also discovered a ziplock baggie with 15 grams of marihuana in it. Charged with consuming over the legal limit and possession of a controlled substance is Wayne Mador (age 35) of 163 Parkland Cresent.

On the 2 September 2013, police were called to a youth group home where it is alleged a 14 year old male resident assaulted 2 members of the adult staff. The male was located and charged with two counts of assault and will be appearing in court on the 8 October 2013.

On the 2 September 2013 City Police responded to a youth group home where it is alleged two male residents continually harassed and threatened two female residents over the course of a month. The behaviour caused the two females to fear for their safety. Both young men were arrested and charged with two counts of threatening to cause bodily harm and two counts of criminal harassment. They will both be appearing in bail court on the 3 September 2013.
