Evening news On the 18th of March at 6 a.m. the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated a domestic assault complaint. Officers learned that a male had been assaulted by his female common-law wife.

On the 18th of March at 6 a.m. the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated a domestic assault complaint. Officers learned that a male had been assaulted by his female common-law wife. The assault consisted of being slapped, punched and pushed.  The victim did not require any medical treatment. The accused has been charged with assault and will appear in court on March 19, 2014. 

On the 18th of March shortly after noon City Police observed a motor vehicle driving at excessive speeds on Wellington Street East. The vehicle was stopped and officers noted that the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. As a result of the investigation 47-year-old Bruce Hollingsworth of Upton Road was arrested and charged with impaired and fail to provide. He will appear in court on April 28, 2014.

Morning news

24-year-old Patricia Pheasant of Queen Street West was arrested shortly after 5 p.m. for theft. She was at Rome’s Grocers on Great Northern Road where she concealed a bag of mashed potatoes and a broccoli salad in her purse and left without paying.  The value of the items was $7.35. She will appear in court on April 28. 

On the 18th of March, 2014 at 1:30 a.m., city police observed a vehicle being driven erratically on Wallace Terrace. Officers noted that the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. As a result of the investigation 27-year-old Robert Riel McGregor of Asquith Street was arrested and charged with impaired driving and over 80. The accused was on a Recognizance of Bail with a condition to reside at a specific residence which he failed to abide by and was also prohibited by court order not to drive a motor vehicle stemming from a previous impaired conviction. He was charged with Breach of a Recognizance and Drive While Prohibited. He will appear in bail court on March 18, 2014.
