The following two persons are to appear in bail court this morning: 1) A 26 year-old male was arrested on the 4th of February at 1:45 pm at a west end residence on an outstanding warrant in relation to a domestic incident from the 3rd of February.

1) A 26 year-old male was arrested on the 4th of February at 1:45 pm at a west end residence on an outstanding warrant in relation to a domestic incident from the 3rd of February. He has been charged with one count of unlawfully in a dwelling house, one count of mischief under $5,000.00 and four counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 4th of February at approximately 2:30 am the accused attended at the end residence of his ex-girlfriend and forced his way in. When he was inside he caused damage by punching a hole in a wall. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation to not be within 100 meters of the victim’s residence, abstain from communicating with her, not to harass or annoy her and to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

2) 28 year-old Brett Warnock of #1-4012 Queen Street East was arrested on the 4th of February at 2:30 pm at Rome’s Independent Grocer on Great Northern Road and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00, one count of breach of probation, one count of breach of a release document and one count of fail to appear for prints. It is alleged that one the 4th of February at around 2:15 pm the accused attended at Rome’s and stole groceries valued at $28.62. He was apprehended by store security and held for police. When police attended an ran a check on the accused they discovered he was wanted on outstanding warrants for breach of recognizance from the 4th of December 2007 and fail to appear for prints on the 27th of December. At the time of this incident the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Trafficking Charges Laid

A drug trafficking investigation conducted by the Sault Ste Marie Police Service’s Street Team Unit has resulted in a male being arrested. Michael Gillgrass, age 24, of 430 Nixon Road was arrested on the 4th of February at 4:35 pm at a downtown residence and charged with one count of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that on the 28th of January 2008 at approximately 1:10 pm the accused attempted to ship a package that contained 1,645 grams of cannabis marihuana from the Greyhound Bus Terminal on Brock Street to a Thunder Bay Ontario address. The estimated street value of the drugs seized was $32,900.00.
The accused is to appear in court on the 10th of March.

Assault with a Weapon

A 39 year-old male was arrested on the 4th of February at 11:30 am at the city police station after turning himself in. He was charged with one count of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that between the 31st of January and the 1st of February while at their residence, the accused struck his five year-old stepchild in the buttock area with a belt. The child received non-life threatening injuries. The accused is to appear in court on the 10th of March.

Fail to Appear and Assault

32 year-old Richard Gabrylewicz of 831 Peoples Road was arrested on the 5th of February at 2:35 am on Peoples Road on an outstanding warrant and charged with one count of fail to appear court from the 14th of January and one count of assault in relation to an incident that occurred while he was in custody at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre on the 21st of April 2007 where he allegedly got into an argument with a fellow inmate and he assaulted him by punching and kneeing him several times. . The victim received non-life threatening injuries. The accused is to appear in court on the 10th of March.

Arrested on Outstanding Warrant

35 year-old Jeremy Meloche of #10-102 Breton Road was arrested on the 4th of February at 3:45 pm at the city police station on an outstanding warrant and charged with one count of fail to appear for fingerprints from the 22nd of January. He is to appear in court on the 10th of March.
