Afternoon news

On April 8th at 1:50 pm Patrol Officers arrested and charged a 25 year old male for domestic assault. The male had assaulted his girlfriend causing minor injuries. He will appear in bail court on April 9th.

Morning news

In the last 24 hours City Police received two theft complaints. A purse was taken from a vehicle and a set of vehicle keys were taken from an unlocked vehicle. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind the public not to leave keys or items of value in vehicles. The cost and time spent replacing items and identification takes much longer than the few minutes it takes to remove your items or lock them in the truck.

On April 8, 2014 patrol officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service responded to a domestic dispute in the east end of the city. On arrival, they found a female who had been bitten in the face by her boyfriend. When officers located the man in their apartment, he was found to be in possession of what appeared to be marijuana. He will be appearing in bail court on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.

Update - The 28-year old male was charged with one count of assault and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance.
