The collision briefly took out power in the area

11:30 a.m. update:

City police continue to direct traffic in the Great Northern Road and Third Line area following this morning's collision. Police say there were two people in the transport. One was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The injuries to the other occupant were non-life-threatening, police say. Tow trucks were in the process of removing the transport truck and the damaged trailer.

Police say the truck was carrying flour. 

PUC crews were still on scene tending to a damaged utility pole.

8 a.m. update:

Police say Great Northern Road is now open to traffic, although officers with the Traffic Services Division are still on scene conducting the investigation. 

From city police:

Approximately 3 a.m. officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision in the area of Third Line and Great Northern Road.  One person was transported from the scene with life-threatening injuries.

6 a.m. original story:

A transport collision overnight knocked out power and continues to close Great Northern Road between the Sault Area Hospital entrance and Third Line.
