Afternoon news Shortly before 12:45 p.m. today a male attended at an east end address and threatened another male. The suspect left the area. The victim then attended and spoke to a neighbour outside about the male threatening him.

Shortly before 12:45 p.m. today a male attended at an east end address and threatened another male. The suspect left the area. The victim then attended and spoke to a neighbour outside about the male threatening him. The male suspect re attended in the area and threatened the neighbour as we as the first victim. The suspect yielded a baseball bat.  The second male victim was assaulted but not harmed.  A female who was with the suspect also threatened the two males.  The two suspects then fled the area in a vehicle. The male lost control of the vehicle and both parties fled on foot. The K-9 unit and ESU officers attended in the area and began a track of the suspects. Upon arrest the male was found to be in possession of cocaine.

Due to the time of day and a weapon involved a code green was activated in the school system. A code green ensures students do not leave the school due to a potential threat outside of the school. 

As a result of the track the adult female and male were taken into custody.  The investigation is still ongoing and further information will be released in the morning.

On the 26th of March at 5 p.m., city police attended at the Metro Grocers on Northern Avenue for a complaint of a shoplifter. It is alleged that 25-year-old Sheena Matchett of Cathcart Street stole several meat items valued at $65.50. The accused was apprehended by store security and turned over to police. The accused has been charged with Theft Under $5000 and will appear in court on April 28, 2014. 

On the 26th of March, 2014 at 5:30 p.m., police attended the area of Metro Grocers at 150 Churchill Blvd. for a complaint by store security that a male had just left with meat concealed in his jacket. James Syrette of Wellington Street East was located a short distance away and arrested for Theft Under $5000. He had meat totaling $104.16. He will appear in court on April 28, 2014 

On the 26th of March, 2014 at 6:50 p.m., police located a male in the 200 block of Albert Street East. He was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and was arrested. 25-year-old Mitchell Warth of Rossmore Road was charged with possession of a Controlled Drug and released with a court date of April 28, 2014. 

On the 26th of March, 2014 at 10 p.m., police located 23-year-old Kristiani Mattila of Goulais Avenue. He was wanted on several outstanding warrants from 2013. The charges include two counts of theft under $5000, breach of probation, three counts of failing to appear for court and one count of fail to appear for fingerprints. He will appear in bail court on March 27. 

On the 26th of March at 11:55 p.m., police came across 29-year-old Shasta Leziert of Wellington Street East. She was wanted in relation to outstanding warrants for Breach of Probation, Failing to re-attend court and Failing to appear for fingerprints. The charges stem from previous offences of breach of probation and failing to attend court in 2013. She will appear in bail court on March 27, 2014. 

On the 27th of March at 12:05 a.m., police located a male youth who was wanted on a warrant for failing to attend for fingerprints. He was arrested and released on a Promise to Appear with a court date in April 2014.
