Sexual Assault A 16 year-old male youth was arrested on the 9th of January at 3:55 pm at the city police station and charged with one count of sexual assault.

A 16 year-old male youth was arrested on the 9th of January at 3:55 pm at the city police station and charged with one count of sexual assault. It is alleged that on the 8th of January between 8 – 9 pm while at a youth group residence, the accused touched a 14 year-old female known to him in an inappropriate manner.
The accused is to appear in court on the 12th of February.

Possession of Stolen Cell Phone

A 16 year-old male youth was arrested on the 9th of January at 11:10 am at a local high school and charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that on the 7th of January while at the school the accused stole a cell phone from a fellow student’s locker and then sold the phone to another youth. The youth that purchased the phone returned it to the owner. The accused is to appear in court on the 12th of February.

Weather Related Incidents

Even with the unfavourable weather and road conditions yesterday, there were no reportable accidents in relation to these conditions and the city police would like to thank the public for adjusting their driving to the conditions. However, with the strong wind conditions, there were four incidents that police responded to and assisted PUC and the City Board of Works with regarding down trees over power lines, two in the Pine Street area and one in the Third Line East Area. There was also a traffic light that was left hanging from the cables in the area of Pim Street and Queen Street East. No injuries were reported.
