Fail to Appear Yesterday evening city police with the assistance Ontario Provincial Police located a 15-year-old male and charged him with one count of failing to appear for court. It is alleged that the youth failed to attend court on March 18th.

Yesterday evening city police with the assistance Ontario Provincial Police located a 15-year-old male and charged him with one count of failing to appear for court. It is alleged that the youth failed to attend court on March 18th. The youth’s new court date has been set for May 6th at 9:30 am.

Motor Vehicle Collision

Yesterday afternoon city police attended at the intersection of Pim St. and Wemyss St regarding a motor vehicle collision with minor injuries. The driver of a southbound car received minor injuries when she struck a northbound van that turned in front of her car. The 79-year-old driver of the van was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with “left turn fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid a collision.” The female driver of the car was treated at the Sault Area Hospital and released.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service received one report of a break and enter yesterday.

A residence in the 100 block of Rush St. was entered and a small amount of money was stolen.

City police were called to investigate two reports of mischief.

The first incident was to a residence in the 900 block of Carpin Beach Rd had its mailbox damaged. The second incident was to a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Second Line W.

Theft

A theft report was received from a resident in the 100 block of Dacey Rd. His vehicle was entered and a small amount of change was stolen.

Dumpster Fire

The Sault Ste Marie Fire Department and the city police were called at 11:30 last night regarding a dumpster fire at the Market Mall. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Police Seeking New Block Parents

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service and Block Parents will be at tonight’s Greyhound hockey game looking to sign up new Block Parents.
