News Release from August 23 rd to August 25 th 10:00 hours On the 24 th of August 2013 at 04:57 hours officers responded to a 911 call regarding a domestic dispute that took place in the City’s west end.

On the 24th of August 2013 at 04:57 hours officers responded to a 911 call regarding a domestic dispute that took place in the City’s west end. It is alleged that a 45-year old male assaulted his ex-girlfriend by punching her in the face and choking her.  It is further alleged that the accused threatened to kill the victim several times and at one point held a sword while making the threat.  It is further alleged that the accused sexually assaulted the victim.  During the course of the incident the accused failed to allow the victim to leave the residence and also broke the victim’s cell phone in half when she went to call the police. It is alleged that the accused fled the residence and the victim was able to leave the residence and call police. Officers from Investigation Services were called out and continued the investigation. The accused was located at 8:40 am by patrol officers and taken into custody without incident. At the time of the offence the accused was on a release document with condition not to communicate directly or indirectly with the victim and not to molest, harass or interfere with the victim.  The victim was taken to the Sault Area Hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The male has been charged with two counts of breach of a recognizance, one count of utter threat to cause death or bodily harm, one count of sexual assault, one count of forcible confinement and one count of mischief under $,5000.  He appeared in WASH court on the 25th and was remanded to bail court for August 26th

18-year old Jesse Sachro of 44 Pawating Place was arrested on the 25th of August at 00:15 hours and charged with one count of assault and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance.  It is alleged that on the 24th of August the accused assaulted a male known to him by kicking him.  The incident took place in the downtown area.  Upon arrest officers located a small amount of marijuana on the accused.  The accused will appear in court on September 23rd

There was an attempt break and enter to a garage on Ferris Avenue on the 23rd of August around 1 pm.  Entry was not gained. 

On the 24th of August 2013 at 00:46 hours a residence was broken into in the 100 block of McNabb Street.  The thief appeared to have been scared off and officers, as well as the K-9 Unit attended, but were not able to locate anyone. 

A garage on Salisbury Avenue was entered overnight between the 23rd and 24th of August. A small amount of change was taken. 

A residence in the 600 block of Boundary Road was entered between the 23rd of August at 12:30 pm and 6:30 pm on the 24th of August.  Nothing was taken.

Earlier release:

On the 25th of August 2013 at approximately 2:30 am City Police attended at an east end restaurant after receiving a report of a male threatening other customers.  Officers learned that two males attended at the restaurant and assaulted three males and also damaged a Volkswagon by kicking and scratching the doors, windows and mirrors on both sides of the vehicle. The males were located a short distance away and taken into custody.  18-year old Shawn Robinson-Lesarge of and 23-year old Daniel Robinson of have each been charged with three counts of assault and one count of mischief under $5,000.  Both males will appear in court on September 30th.

On the 25th of August 2013 just before 2 am City Police attended on Landslide Road for a single motor vehicle collision.  It is alleged that a black Toyota car was travelling on Landslide Road and ended up in the ditch.  The vehicle was demolished and the driver was taken to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.  Officers from Traffic Services were called out to investigate the collision.  The investigation is ongoing.  The driver of the vehicle, 20-year old Gerid Rooney of 65 Ashgrove Avenue, has been charged with one count of consume over the legal limit.  He will appear in court on the 21st of October.
