A 48-year-old male was arrested early this morning for assaulting his common-law partner at their residence. It is alleged he pulled her by the hair and threw her to the ground several times as well as slapping her in the face and head area repeatedly as well. The accused will be appearing in Bail Court on April 22nd.

Three vehicles parked in the Fort Creek Drive area were entered overnight. Money was reported stolen from two of them, a credit card and passport was stolen from another.

On the 19th of April 2014 at 4:30 pm City Police attended at the Metro Grocery Store on Churchill Blvd. for a complaint of a shoplifter.  It is alleged that 53 year old Michael Sweeney of Mocassin Street, Garden River stole eggs and a banana with an estimated value of $2.95.  The accused was apprehended by store security and turned over to police.  The accused has been charged with theft under $5,000.  The accused was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to re-attend court in December 2013 stemming from a previous shoplifting incident.  He will appear in court on May 26th, 2014.
