Sault police have arrested a 19-year-old suspect wanted in connection with a July 25 robbery on Great Northern Road.

Police say an employee at a business was threatened with a pocketknife after confronting a customer who did not pay.

“The suspect fled prior to police arrival,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “Officers identified the suspect as the accused but were unable to locate them at that time and a warrant was sought."

The following week, on Aug. 4, the suspect was located in the 200 block of McNabb Street and placed under arrest.

Jessie Caithcart is charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Robbery
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

Caithcart was released on an undertaking and is scheduled back in court on Oct. 16.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
