Sault man accused of assaulting security guard, resisting arrest

Police say the 18-year-old refused to leave a Bay Street business

On March 23, 2019, officers with the Patrol Services division of the Sault Ste. Marie Service arrested 18-year-old Ryan Thompson of no fixed address for assault.

It’s alleged on March 23, 2019, the accused attended a business in the 200 block of Bay Street where he is prohibited to attend. When security asked him to leave, he struck two security officers, and attempted to hit one with a bottle.

Security was able to get him under control, and waited for police to arrive. During this time the accused threatened a security guard.

When police arrived, he was taken into custody. He is charged with two counts of assault, one count of assault with a weapon, one count of uttering threats, one count of resist arrest, one count of breach of undertaking and one count of mischief. He was released on a promise to appear in court on May 6, 2019.
