The unexpected passing of Emma Greco, a 19-year-old resident of the Sault, has sparked a flood of support from the community.

The following release was issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services regarding the Emma Greco incident:

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service extends condolences to the family, friends, and all affected by the recent death of 19-year-old Emma Greco following an incident on Feb. 19, 2023 in a parking lot in the 300 block of Dacey Road.

On that day, officers responded to a 911 call of someone being injured after an incident with a vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with Emma Greco and the driver of the vehicle prior to Emma being transported to hospital by EMS.

The investigation began with members from Patrol Services responding to the initial call for service.

As the investigation evolved, detectives from Investigation Services and members from Traffic Services were assigned to the incident.

The thorough investigation included compiling all relevant information, including witness statements, extensive review of security camera recordings and consultation with the Coroner’s Office.

Currently, there is no evidence to indicate any criminality in the incident.

No criminal charges have been laid.
