Police seize homemade taser, suspected fentanyl on Albert Street

Value of the seized drugs is approximately $17,260

One person faces drug trafficking and weapons charges after police seized suspected fentanyl and a homemade taser early yesterday morning.

Also seized were a knife, a pellet gun and drug paraphernalia, says a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

The street value of the drugs is approximately $17,260.

Charged is 34-year-old Jordan Morrar. None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.

On July 18, 2023, officers with Patrol Services charged 34-year-old Jordan Morrar with drug and weapons offences.

Around 2 a.m., officers patrolling Albert Street East observed a person, later identified as the accused, on a bicycle. After noticing the police, the accused attempted to evade them and threw an item into some bushes. Officers caught up with the accused and placed them under investigative detention.

A subsequent search of the accused and the area found the accused to be in possession of a knife, a homemade taser, drug paraphernalia, a scale, approximately 43 grams of a substance believed to be fentanyl, and a pellet gun. The street value of the drugs is estimated to be $17,260. The accused was arrested.

The accused is charged with:
    •    Possession for the purpose of trafficking
    •    Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
    •    Possession of prohibited weapon
    •    Carrying concealed weapon

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing and was remanded.
