Police respond to calls about gunfire in Cathcart, Huron area (7 photos)

Bullet holes were discovered and the investigation is ongoing

Police are investigating after suspected bullet holes were discovered at a Cathcart Street business and a residence on Huron Street.

A news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service states that officers made the discovery at approximately 5 a.m. today while responding to a business alarm.

No injuries are reported.

Full text of the news release follows:

Around 5 a.m. officers responded to an alarm at a business in the 300 block of Cathcart Street.

Upon arrival officers located a hole in a window of the business. At this time it is believed the hole was caused by a bullet.

A short time later officers received several calls of gunfire in the area. Further investigation lead officers to a residence in the 100 block of Huron Street.

Upon arriving at the residence officers identified more bullet holes. Officers entered the residence and cleared it. No injured people or suspects were located inside the residence.

The scene is being held as the investigation is ongoing.
