While investigating an assault complaint in Chelmsford, Greater Sudbury Police uncovered an active methamphetamine lab, as well as what is believed to be more than $100,000 in cash.

On March 2,  the officers investigating the assault were tipped to a possible drug lab on the property. A release from GSPS states they arrested the person they believed to be in charge, “secured the residence and contacted Greater Sudbury Fire Services HAZMAT Technicians to ensure public safety while detectives from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) applied for a search warrant of the property”, said the release.

On March 5, detectives from the DEU received the warrant to search the property.

During that search, police located a “clandestine methamphetamine laboratory” and found approximately 210 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a conducted energy weapon, two long guns, ammunition, scales, numerous chemicals and a large sum of cash (believed to be over $100,000).

The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $20,000.
