One person is facing charges after a rideshare driver and a police officer were assaulted early Friday.
Sault Ste. Marie Police were called to the area of St. George’s Avenue East and Grand Boulevard at around 2:45 a.m.
“An investigation revealed the accused had ordered a ride from a rideshare service and had damaged the driver’s vehicle and punched them in the face twice,” said police in a news release.
Police also alleged a responding officer was kicked by the accused.
Montana Kapashesit, 24, has been charged with:
- Assault
- Assault Peace Officer
- Mischief Under $5,000
None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
