Sault Police charged a 50-year-old man with impaired and dangerous operation of a vehicle after someone collided with a vehicle in a parking lot near the 1000 block of Trunk Road.
The incident occurred at around 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday.
Police say after hitting the car, the individual parked and briefly fell asleep, before waking up and driving away from the scene.
Officers located a vehicle on Dacey Road and conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the accused, officers developed grounds to believe his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.
Officers conducted a Standardized Field Sobriety Test , which they say the accused performed poorly.
Police arrested the accused and transported him to the station where they say he provided multiple breath samples, all of which registered above the legal limit.
Mark Lloyd is charged with operation while impaired – drug and/or alcohol, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80+), and dangerous operation.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 2.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Lloyd is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
