Persons to appear in Bail court: 1) On Sunday June 28th at approx. 7:00 pm city police were called to a west end residence regarding a domestic assault.
Persons to appear in Bail court:

1) On Sunday June 28th at approx. 7:00 pm city police were called to a west end residence regarding a domestic assault. Upon arrival officers spoke to both involved persons and subsequently arrested a 41-year-old male. It is alleged that the common-law partner of the victim became upset during an argument and elbowed the female victim in the mouth. The victim did not require medical attention for her injuries. The male is charged with one count of assault.

2) On Friday June 26th at approx. 11:15 pm city police arrested a 33-year-old female for three counts of breach of probation. It is alleged on Friday evening the accused made several phone calls to a person she was prohibited from communicating with. It is also alleged that at the time of her arrest the accused had consumed alcohol. Charged with three counts of breach of probation is Jennifer Weston, age 33 of 136 Pozzebon St.

3) On Friday June 26th at approx. 10:20 pm city police were called to Great Northern Rd and Northern Ave regarding a fail to remain motor vehicle collision. On route to this collision officers were advised that the same vehicle was involved in another incident on Old Garden River Rd. Officers attended the area and subsequently arrested a male person matching the description of the suspect driver. As a result of police investigation Mark Vasey, age 24, of 44 Francis St., Thessalon, was arrested and charged with the following offences: one count of impaired driving, one count of driver over 80mgs, one count of dangerous driving, one count of theft over $ 5,000.00, one count of break and enter, one count of possession of stolen property and two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused, Vasey, broke into a residence in the 100 block of Malabar Dr. and stole a 2005 Chrysler Sebring. It is further alleged that the accused drove the vehicle onto Wawanosh St. where he struck a mail box. The accused left the scene and became involved in a collision on Great Northern Rd. and Northern Ave. where the accused’s vehicle struck another vehicle. Once again the accused left the scene and drove to Old Garden River Rd. where it is alleged that he drove the vehicle through some bushes almost striking three pedestrians. Police located the accused after he parked the stolen vehicle.

4) On Saturday June 27th at approx. 2:00 am city police were called to the area of Peoples Rd. and Churchill Ave regarding an assault. On route officers were notified that a witness was following two suspects. As a result police attended on Laura St. where the officers arrested a male and female. A 17-year-old male was arrested and charged with one count of assault causing bodily and one count of resist arrest. Brittany Wiebe, age 19, of 164 East Balfour St. was also arrested and charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of assault. It is alleged that the two accused persons approached the victim, a 63-year-old male and for unknown reasons assaulted him. The incident was witnessed by a citizen that then followed the two accused. At this time it is alleged that the female accused punched and kicked the witness. The 63-year-old male was transported to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment. The second victim did not require medical attention.

Male arrested for impaired driving:

On Friday June 26th at approx 9:30 pm police arrested 47-year-old Morris Rombough, of 71 Malabar Dr. and charged him with one count of impaired driving, one count of drive over 80mgs and one count of failing to remain at the scene of a collision. It is alleged that at approx. 9:00 pm the accused, who was operating a motor vehicle on Northern Ave struck another vehicle on Willow Ave. The accused left the scene on foot and was located and arrested by city police. Mr. Rombough will be appearing in court on July 27th at 9:00 am.

Female arrested for weapon and assault charges:

On Saturday June 27th at approx 9:00 pm city police were called to a centrally located address regarding a family dispute. Upon arrival officers spoke to all involved persons and arrested a19-year-old female. It is alleged that the accused got into an argument with her boyfriend and broke his television. The accused that is said to have gone into the kitchen grabbed two kitchen knives and threatened her boyfriend and her mother. It is further alleged that the accused assaulted her mother by scratching her. The accused female is charged with one count of assault, one count of assault with a weapon and one count of possession of a weapon. She will be appearing in court on July 27th at 9:00 am.

Property Crimes:

Break and Enters


A residence in the 100 block of Manilla Terr. was broken into on Friday night. A television and some cigarettes were stolen.
A residence in the 100 block of Sutton Pl was entered on Sat.- a 50’ television and other electronic items were stolen.
Two apartments in the 200 block of Albert St. W. were entered on the weekend. It is unknown what was taken at this time.

Mischief

A flower bed inn the 600 block of Douglas Ave was damaged.
Vehicles were damaged in the following location: the 1000 block of Wellington St E., the 100 block of Great Northern Rd. and the John Rhodes parking lot – 280 Elizabeth St.
A mailbox was damaged in the 200 block of Moss Rd.
The bus shelter on John St. was damaged- four males were seen fleeing from the area.
Vandals damaged one of the wooden carvings located at the Civic Center. The carving of two paddlers in a canoe had one of the paddles damaged.

Theft
Vehicles parked on the following streets were entered:
The 100 block of McMeeken St – a wallet was stolen.
The 100 block of Lasalle Crt – cash taken.
The 100 block of Boehmer Blvd – unknown items taken.
The 600 block of Douglas St. – unknown items taken.
The 100 block of Rossmore Rd. – wallet stolen.
Bellevue Park – a wallet was stolen.

A bicycle was taken from a residence in the 100 block Lasalle Crt.
