Domestic and Family Dispute Related Arrests for Bail Court Appearance this Morning:

1) A 24 year-old male was arrested on the 13th of June at 9:26 pm at his residence and charged with one count of breach of probation in relation to a domestic dispute with his common law girlfriend that occurred on the 8th of April at their residence. At the time of the incident the accused was under the influence of alcohol and was on probation conditions not to consume any alcohol. The accused was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear court from the 8th of June.

2) A 64 year-old male was arrested on the 12th of June at 12:56 pm at his residence and charged with two counts of criminal harassment. It is alleged that from the 1st of September 2008 until the 12th of June 2009 the accused criminally harassed his ex-girlfriend by continuously communicated with her, sending her cards, driving by and watching her residence.

3) A 22 year-old male was arrested on the 14th of June at 2:58 am at his residence and charged with two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 14th of June at approximately 2 am the accused called his ex-girlfriend on the phone and then attended outside her apartment and continuously rang the buzzer to her apartment. When she refused to let him in, he continuously yelled at her outside her balcony until police attended and arrested him. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation with conditions that he not communicate with the victim, to stay away from her residence, not to molest, harass or annoy her and to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

4) A 26 year-old male was arrested twice on the 14th of June regarding a family dispute. He has been charged with two counts of break, enter and commit, one count of possession of stolen property, two counts of breach of a release document and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 14th of June around 9 pm the accused attended at the residence of his mother and sister, broke into the garage and stole a bike belonging to his sister. Officers attended and discovered that the accused was arrested earlier in the day for breaking into their residence and stealing a set of keys. He was released on an undertaking at that time not to communicate with them and to stay away from their residence. The accused was also on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Female Arrested on Outstanding Warrants:

22 year-old Ashley Gagnon of #2-20 Manitou Drive was arrested on the 15th of June at 5:25 am at the city police station on outstanding warrants and charged with two counts of fail to appear court. She is to appear in bail court this morning.

Property Crimes:

Break and Enter Reports:


• A residence on Lansdowne Avenue was entered at around 4 pm on the 12th of June cash and silver bars were reported stolen.
• A garage on Garden Avenue was entered on the 14th of June around 1:40 am. Two small Pocket motorcycles were stolen-one 4-wheeler and one 2-wheeler and a pair of motorcross boots.
• There was an attempt break and enter to a residence on the 13th of June around 12:24 am.

Mischief Reports:

• Three vehicles were damaged in a parking lot on Second Line West at Goulais Avenue. Tires were slashed and the windshields smashed.
• A rock was thrown through a basement window of a residence in the 200 block of Pim Street on the 13th of June.

Thefts:

• Several vehicles were entered over the weekend in the areas of Cambridge Place, Korah Road, Oregon Rd, Churchill Avenue and Meadow Park Crescent. Items reported stolen included: change, a bike, a wallet, a solar panel for charging a vehicle battery, two satellite radios and a passport.
• A barbecue was stolen from a residence property on Toronto Street.
• Two certified cheques were stolen from a mailbox on Dacey Road.
• Bikes were stolen in the area of La Chaumiere Place, Tilley Road and Pine Street.

City police would like to remind the public that they should not leave any valuables in their vehicles overnight as well lock and secure all bikes and register them at the Sault Ste Marie Police Service’s Building at 580 Second Line East weekdays from 8 am to 4 pm.
