The following six persons will be appearing in bail court today:

1. Stephen Moor, age 23, of 772 Wellington St. E. Apt 202. On Friday Feb 1st, 2008 at approx. 3:50 pm city police arrested Stephen Moor at his home address on for two outstanding warrants. It is alleged that Mr. Moor failed to appear for court on Dec 10th 2007 and also failed to appear for identification on Dec. 4th 2007. It is further alleged that early on Friday Feb 1st Mr. Moor broke into a residence in the 300 block of Reid St. and stole some electronic equipment. Mr. Moor is charged with one count of break and enter one count of fail to appear for identification and one count of fail to appear for court.

2. A 40-year-old male was arrested on Feb. 1st at approx. 7:00 pm and charged with two counts of assault. It is alleged that on Friday Feb 1st the accused attended at the west-end residence of his ex-girlfriend and while there assaulted her by pulling her hair and punching her in the face and then attempted punch another female at the residence when she went to the victim’s assistance. Victim did not require medical attention.

3. A 33-year-old female was arrested at her west-end address yesterday afternoon and charged with one count of breach of a recognizance. It is alleged that on Feb. 1st at approx. 7:00 pm the accused was involved in an argument with a male person she was prohibited from communicating with.

4. A 23-year-old male was arrested and charged with one count of assault and one count of criminal harassment. It is alleged that during the month of January the accused pushed the victim, his ex- girlfriend, to the ground causing her to injure her hand. It is further alleged that on Feb. 2nd at approx. 2:00 am the accused rang the door bell at victim’s home in excess of 20 times. The victim did not require medical attention for her injury.

5. Gordon Leonard, age 41 of 34 Queen St. E. Apt. 3 was arrested on Saturday Feb 2nd at approx. 11:40 pm and charged with one count of failing to appear for court and one count of breach of an undertaking . It is alleged that the accused was to appear in court on July 4th 2007, on charges of break and enter and sexual assault and failed to do so. It is also alleged that the accused failed to notify the city police of a change of his address as set out in his release documents.

6. A 48-year-old male was arrested yesterday morning and charged with one count of assault, one count of sexual assault and two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on Sunday Feb 3rd at approx. 4:30 am the accused attended at the downtown address of his ex-girlfriend and sexually assaulted her by grabbing her by the breasts several times. When the victim attempted to push the accused away it is alleged that he grabbed her by the wrists and punched her in the face and head area several times. The victim suffered face and head injuries as a result of the assault. The victim attended at the hospital for treatment for her injuries. At the time of theses offences the accused was on probation with conditions to not communicate with the victim and to keep the peace.

Possible Attempted Robbery

City police are presently investigating a report of a possible attempt robbery that occurred early this morning in the east end. It is reported that at approx. 4:20 am today a lone male person ran into the Mac’s Convenience Store located at 2200 Queen St. E. As the male approached the counter he saw the male clerk and then fled from store. It is believed that the suspect may have had second thoughts about robbing the store and fled. The suspect is described as: Male, approx. 6 feet tall, skinny build. Last seen wearing a black hoodie and a black ski mask over his face saw.

City police are investigating one report of a break and enter over the weekend.

Pana Restaurant located at 472 Queen St. E. was broken into overnight on Saturday Feb 2nd. It is not known at this time what was stolen.

City police received two reports of mischief this weekend.

A vehicle parked in the 700 block of Mackenzie Ave was damaged by paint balls. A home in the 100 block of Tilley Rd. had a window smashed by a ber bottle.

Police are investigating a report of a stolen snow blower.

A snow blower was stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Pageant Dr. Then theft took place sometime overnight on Saturday Feb 2nd.

Attempted Murder

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is presently investigating an incident of attempted murder.
At approx. 1:25 am this morning officers from the Sault Ste Marie Police Service were dispatched to an east-end residence regarding two males fighting. Upon arrival the officers discovered that one of the males had been stabbed several times. As a result of investigations the second male 39-year-old Shawn Husband, of 57 Jemmette St. and charged him with one count of attempt murder. It is alleged that at approx. 1:20 am this morning the accused Shawn Husband and another male, known to him, were involved in an altercation. The two men started fighting resulting in the accused being punched in the face by the victim. The accused then grabbed a small kitchen knife and stabbed the victim several times in the neck and back area. The victim was rushed to hospital where he is being treated for severe lacerations. The accused is presently in custody. The investigation is continuing.
