Man spent around $1,500 using forged cheques, say Police

The 47-year-old faces multiple charges as a result

A local man faces forgery charges stemming from an incident that occurred in December of 2021, Sault Ste. Marie Police said in a news release today.

Police say the 47-year-old forged cheques and made purchases with bank accounts that are not his totalling approximately $1,500.

He was arrested on March 29 and as a result, Cecil Cuthbertson faces the following charges: 

  • Forgery x2
  • Fraud under $5,000
  • Obtaining credit by fraud

He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on May 30, 2022.
