A man was arrested this morning after a security guard was kicked in the face over the weekend.

Sault Police say the incident happened at around 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 22 in the 700 block of Wellington Street West.

“An investigation revealed the accused had kicked a security officer in the head when asked to leave the property,” a news release says. “The victim sustained minor physical injuries.”

A warrant was issued for the suspect’s arrest.

This morning, when someone phoned 911 to report an unwanted person in the 700 block of Great Northern Road, police say they located the suspect.

Anthony Best, 36, is charged with one count of assault. He was released on an undertaking and is due back in court on Feb. 24, 2025.

The allegation has not been tested in court and Best is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
