Lost at Hiawatha Highlands? There's an app for that

Police were able to locate two lost hikers Tuesday night, thanks to the 'what3words' app

Diligence, endure, soup.

Recklessly, tweets, hatchback.

Those six words helped Sault Police rescue two hikers who got lost in Hiawatha Highlands Tuesday night.

In a Facebook post, police say the lost hikers downloaded what3words — an app that divides the entire world into three-metre squares and gives each square a unique combination of three words.

“By downloading this app, the lost hikers were able to tell our 911 Communicators exactly where they were,” the Facebook post says. “They stayed put and our officers quickly located them and brought them to safety.”

This is not the first time Sault Police were able to use the what3words to locate a lost local.
