Goulais River man facing robbery charges

On Feb. 23, 2019 officers with the Patrol Services Division of The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 18-year-old Ryan Thompson of Goulais River for robbery.

It is alleged on Feb. 23, 2019 the accused attended a business in the 200-block of Bay Street where he selected an item and left the store without paying. When an employee attempted to stop the accused he threatened the employee with a weapon.

When police arrived, they took him into custody and located just over $240.00 worth of stolen property in his possession.  The accused then continually spat on the inside windows of the police vehicle.  During his arrest, the accused also began striking and kicking an officer.

He is charged with one count of robbery, one count of assaulting a police officer, one count of mischief. He was held for bail court.
