Evening news: Three reported vehicles were entered in the overnight hours. A vehicle in the area of Golf Range Crescent was entered and a wallet with identification was taken. A vehicle was entered in the area of McGregor Avenue.

Evening news:

Three reported vehicles were entered in the overnight hours. A vehicle in the area of Golf Range Crescent was entered and a wallet with identification was taken.

A vehicle was entered in the area of McGregor Avenue. A wallet was removed.

A vehicle was entered in the area of Kensington Drive.  A wallet, passport and miscellaneous items were removed.

Additional Charge Laid in MVC Fatality from August 31st

Officers from Traffic Services are continuing their investigation into the fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred in the evening hours of August 31st on McNabb Street near Algoma Avenue.

On the 31st of August 54-year old Michael Casselman of 111 MacDonald Avenue was charged with one count of operate motor vehicle-exceed legal limit causing death.

On the 10th of September the accused was further charged with one count of impaired driving causing death.

On the 3rd of October officers from Traffic Services attended at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre and charged Mr. Casselman with one count of dangerous operation of motor vehicle causing death. He will in bail court on the 4th of October.

Morning news:

Just before 2:30 am officers attended in the 700 block of Trunk Road after receiving reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival officers spoke to an adult male who had been stabbed in the leg and required medical treatment for non life threatening injuries.

It is alleged that the victim and the accused had gotten into a verbal argument which resulted in the accused stabbing the victim.  The accused then fled on foot.  Just before 3 am patrol officers, with the assistance of the K-9 Unit, were able to locate the accused a short distance away. 

24-year old Christian Perrault of no fixed address has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon and will appear in bail court this morning.

On October 3, 2013 at 6:00 pm Detectives from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested and charged Kathleen Socchia, age 37 of 627 MacDonald Ave, with Fraud over $5,000.00. Officers had learned that between May and August of this year Socchia falsely billed a company she was working for. She will appear in court on November 4th.

On Oct 3rd at 10:30 pm a 38 year old male turned himself in to Police Officers at the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services Building. The male was wanted for assaulting his girlfriend from a domestic incident in late September. The male will appear in court on October 4th to answer to his Assault charge.
