Male Youth Arrested after Family Dispute: A 17 year-old male was arrested on the 27th of November at 5 pm at his residence and charged with two counts of assault, one count of assault with a weapon and one count of threaten death or bodily harm.

A 17 year-old male was arrested on the 27th of November at 5 pm at his residence and charged with two counts of assault, one count of assault with a weapon and one count of threaten death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 27th of November around 4:45 pm city police were called to a residence for a family dispute. When they arrived they discovered that the 17 year old male youth had assaulted two of his family members by pushing and punching them. The accused also had a screwdriver and knife in his hands at one point and made threats to kill one of them. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Cab Driver that Reported being Robbed Arrested for Public Mischief:

36 year-old Jason Roy of #2-327 Cathcart Street was arrested on the 27th of November at 1:46 pm at the city police station and charged with one count of public mischief. It is alleged that on the 23rd of November the accused, a Union Cab driver, had reported to police that he had been assaulted and robbed by a fare on Frontenac Street. Detectives continuing the investigation learned that the accused had fabricated the entire story, discovering that the robbery did not take place. The accused is to appear in court on the 5th of January, 2009.

Two Male Youths Arrested for Spray Painting Incidents:

City police received a call from a witness last night around 9:23 pm that was observing two male youths spray painting a wall at Armando’s Hair Castle on McNabb Street. The witness provided a description and began to follow the males that had left the scene. Officers arrived in the area and located the two suspects matching the description walking eastbound on Gladstone Avenue. Officers observed a can of spray paint sticking out of one of the youth’s coat pocket. Officers continuing the investigation also discovered that the youth’s spray painted a garage on Blake Street and a concrete barrier in the rear of Speedy Auto Centre on Great Northern Road. The graffiti left on the wall of Armando’s Hair Centre consisted of letters, initials and obscene language. Some letters and the number 8 were also found on the concrete barrier, the garage on Blake Street and a rear building located on the Speedy Auto Centre Property.
As a result, the two male youths, both 14 years of age, were charged with three counts of mischief.
They are to appear in court on the 6th of January.

Male Arrested and Charged for Further Fraud Incidents:

The Investigation Services Fraud Unit continuing the investigation regarding the accused Steven Warren have laid further charged after discovering that the Community of Christ Church on McNabb Street and the United Baptist Church on Malabar Street were also victims of the his scam.
56 year-old Steven Warren of #3-414 Queen Street West was arrested once again on the 27tth of November at 1:45 pm at the city police station and charged with two more counts of fraud and two counts of obtain by false pretence. It is alleged that between the 14-16th of September the accused attended at the Community of Christ Church and solicited funds in the amount of $190.00 after giving a fictitious story of a family crisis. It is further alleged that on the 6th of October the accused attended at the United Baptist Church on Malabar Street soliciting funds for the same fraudulent cause and received a donation in the amount of $75.00. The accused is to appear in court on the 8th of December.
The accused was previously arrested on the 19th of November for similar offences – see November 20th News Release.

Female Arrested for Shoplifting:

56 year-old Judy Stong of 184 Landslide Road was arrested on the 27th of November at 2:17 pm at Rome’s Independent Grocers and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 27th of November around 2:15 pm the accused attended at the store and stole approximately $171.83 in groceries. She was apprehended by store security and held for police. She is to appear in court on the 5th of January, 2009.

Property Crimes:

Break and Enter Reports:


• A garage on Brookfield Drive was broken into sometime overnight on the 26th of November. Some of the items reported stolen included: A CR 55 Honda Motocross and helmet, two mountain bikes and several tools and power tools.
• An apartment on Portage Lane was entered and a 36” Plasma Television was reported stolen.

Theft Reports:

• A snowboard was reported stolen from a residence in the 500 block of North Street.
• A vehicle on Asquith Street was entered sometime on the 27th of November after the rear window was smashed. Two power drills were reported stolen.
