39 year-old Janet Nichols of #4-109 Carufel Avenue was arrested at around 3 pm yesterday afternoon and charged with one count of uttering a forged document and one count of fraud. It is alleged that on the 18th of February 2007 the accused did defraud a male known to her by writing him an international money order cheque in the sum of $850.00 while knowing that the document was fraudulent. The victim deposited the cheque into his account and was advised by his bank a few weeks later that the cheque came back as counterfeit. The accused is to appear in court on the 18th of June.

There were no break and enters reported over the last 24 hours.

Drive Responsibly

The Victoria Day long weekend is upon us. The Sault Ste Marie Police Service would like to remind the public to drive responsibly this holiday weekend. Please do not drink and drive. Also if you are traveling ensure your home is locked up and speak to your neighbours about keeping an eye on your place and reporting any suspicious activity.
