ARRESTED ON OUTSTANDING WARRANTS
22-year-old Jacob Brian CARTER of 16 Albert Street West was arrested early this morning on outstanding warrants.
Mr. Carter was wanted for failing to appear in court as well as for one count of mischief. It is alleged that the accused broke 4 windows in a bus shelter on Trunk Road in August of 2002, and then failed to attend court in March of 2003 to answer to the charges. Mr. Carter is set to appear in court on the 19th of July on these charges.
DOMESTIC DISPUTE
A 27-year-old male will appear in court on July 26th after he was arrested early this morning in relation to a domestic violence call. It is alleged that the male assaulted a female in their downtown residence by punching her in the head and holding her by the arms. The female did not require any medical attention.
CHARGED WITH THEFT
Heather Rivers, age 30, of 180B Glasgow Avenue will appear in court on July 19th after she was arrested yesterday afternoon for theft under $5,000 and breach of probation.
It is alleged that Ms. Rivers went to the Beach Bound Tanning Store on Queen Street East and stole 2 bathing suits on the 10th of June. Her co-accused, Donat Cyr of 3-8 Queen St E was arrested and charged on the 14th of June with theft under $5,000. Ms. Rivers was also on probation at the time to keep the peace and be good.
WAVING KNIFE IN DOWNTOWN BAR
20-year-old Derek Spilman of no fixed address will be in bail court today on a number of weapons-related charges.
At approximately 2:20 am this morning City Police responded to a call involving a male waving a knife around in a downtown bar. It is alleged that Mr. Spilman waved the knife in the direction of 2 employees, causing them to be concerned for their safety.
Upon the completion of the investigation by patrol officers, Mr. Spilman was charged with 2 counts of assault with a weapon, 1 count of possession of a weapon for purposes dangerous to the public, 1 count of carrying a concealed weapon, and 2 counts of breach of probation. At the time of the offence Mr. Spilman was on probation with terms to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, as well as not to consume alcohol.

Yesterday morning it was discovered that the Soo Minor Baseball Building on Old Garden River Road had been broken into sometime overnight on the 16th to 17th. Thieves rummaged through the building, after gaining entry, and damaged a computer by smashing the hard drive. They also stole a small undisclosed amount of money. Nothing else appears to have been taken.
