Breach of Probabtion and Assault Yesterday morning at approx. 9:30 am city police arrested an 18-year-old male and charged him with one count of assault and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on Monday Jan.
Breach of Probabtion and Assault

Yesterday morning at approx. 9:30 am city police arrested an 18-year-old male and charged him with one count of assault and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on Monday Jan. 21st the accused attended at a local high school and assault a student at the school. At the time of this offence the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace. The assault consisted of several punches to the face and head of the victim. The accused and victim are known to one another. The victim received minor injuries that did not require medical attention. Ken Armstrong, age 18 of 696 Pine St. is charged and will be appearing in court on Feb 25 at 9:00 am.

Failing to Appear

Yesterday afternoon at approx. 1:40 pm Jennifer Martin attended at the city police station and turned herself in for two warrants. It is alleged that Ms. Martin failed to appear for court on two occasions - June 14th, 2007 and January 9th, 2008. Jennifer Martin, age 24 of 277 Northern Ave, Apt 507 is charged with two counts of failing to appear for court. She is scheduled to appear in court on Feb 25th at 9:00 am.

Impaired Driving

At approx. 2:50 pm yesterday afternoon city police stopped a vehicle on Korah Rd. for a highway traffic act offence. It is alleged that when the officers spoke to the driver they detected the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. As a result the driver was arrested for impaired driving. Charged with one count of impaired driving is Frank McLeish, age 34, of 1244 Pineshores Rd. Goulais River, Ont. Mr. McLeish will be appearing in court on
Feb 25th at 9:00 am.

Shoplifting

Early yesterday evening city police were called to attend at Rome’s Independent Grocers regarding a shoplifter. Upon arrival officers were informed by store security that a male had been apprehended for theft. It is alleged that the accused entered Rome’s, selected a container of coffee and a container of coffee whitener and then left the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Charged with one count of theft under $ 5,000 is Bradley Fraser, age 34 of 79 Melrose St. At the time of his arrest Mr. Fraser was also wanted on two warrants for breach of probation. He will be appearing in court on Feb 25th at 9:00 am.

Single Vehicle Collision

t approx. 4:15 am this morning city police attended at a single motor vehicle collision on Third Line W. west of Goulais Ave. As a result of investigations by the attending officers a 17-year-old male was arrested and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of drive over 80 mgs. It is alleged that the accused was operating a mini van eastbound on Third Line W. when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle struck the guard rail and rolled over several times before coming to a stop. The driver and his passenger were both wearing their seatbelts and as a result only received minor cuts and scratches as a result of the collision. The vehicle on the other hand was totally destroyed. The accused will be appearing in court on Feb 26th at 9:30 am.

Theft from Car

City police received one report of a theft from a vehicle over night. A vehicle parked in the 100 block of
Albert St.W. was entered. It is not known at this time what if anything was stolen.
